Our work for future generations

It’s not easy to get windows approved to bear the Nordic Swan ecolabel. But Svenska Fönster has succeeded, and that’s because our products comply with stringent demands for environmental adaptation, quality and energy efficiency. We are also certified in accordance with ISO 14001 – which shows that we have a first-rate environmental policy. To get to this point we have worked for a minimal environmental impact in every stage of our business activities – from the pine trees in the forest until the window after many decades reaches the end of its useful life .

We will be explaining below where we are today in some of our important areas. In the future we will have made even more progress. Because even if we are proud of where we are now, we are not satisfied. We regularly revise our already strict environmental policy to make it even more severe, so that the next generation will also have the best possible environment – both indoors and outdoors.

Manufacturing

This is what we have done to reduce our consumption of energy, the volume of material in production and our waste.

Nordic swan

Svenska Fönster manufacture products that are approved to bear the Nordic Swan ecolabel.

Transports

We measure our emissions from transports, both within the company and together with carriers, to reduce our emissions in line with set targets.

Surface treatment

We only work with water-based paint and impregnation. It’s good for the environment, for our customers and for our employees.

Timber

Over 90 per cent of our timber is FSC labelled – which shows that it complies with the requirements for sustainable forestry.
