The pine trees in the forest, our raw material, already make a significant contribution for the environment, because a growing tree takes up about one tonne of carbon dioxide for every cubic metre of wood that grows. Over 90 per cent of our timber is FSC/PEFC labelled – which shows that it complies with the requirements for sustainable forestry. When the timber has been felled we make use of all of it. The trunk becomes windows and what could be called wastage is used as biofuel. It warms the whole of our large plant in Edsbyn, our factory in Lingbo, and more besides.
The high quality of our windows means that they last longer – but when in the future they reach the end of their useful life, the wood can easily be recycled as energy.
